I love this! This is spot on with my experience of Ella Enchanted at around the same age (and beyond!). My copy is also yellow and crinkly at this point, and the spine is partially ripped from so many rereads. My daughter is almost old enough for me to read it to her, and I can’t wait! This book is one of my go-to gifts for late elementary-middle school aged girls for all the reasons you talk about.
